There is more than one way to measure the success of a fintech company. 🇬🇧 Revenue is one. Profit is another. But I think there is a third measure that gets much less attention: What does the company actually contribute to the economy in which it operates? Recently, I looked at the latest available accounts of several companies operating in broadly comparable parts of the UK payments market. I’m deliberately not naming them. This isn’t about criticising competitors, and different companies have different business models, structures, investment cycles and reporting periods. So, for this exercise, let’s call them: 💬 Atlas. 💬 Beacon. 💬 Cedar. 💬 Delta. 💬 Ember. 💬 Falcon. And then there is Cardaq. The numbers gave me something to think about. Across this peer group, the corporation-tax charges in the latest accounts available were approximately: 🇬🇧 Cardaq — £4.20m 🏴 Atlas — £2.15m 🏴 Beacon — £1.95m 🏴 Cedar — £1.41m 🏴 Delta — £0.45m 🏴 Ember — £0.26m 🏴 Falcon — £0.17m 🏴 Atlas is based on FY2024 because that was the comparable account period available in the dataset. But tax is only part of the story. Businesses contribute through employment, salaries, employer National Insurance, PAYE generated through employment, VAT, suppliers, technology investment, offices, professional services and the capital they continue to invest in the country. And our statutory accounts separately identify overseas support personnel, which is important because I don’t want to pretend every employee appearing in a UK company’s accounts automatically represents a UK job. So I’m not going to manufacture a headline claiming that Cardaq creates more UK jobs than everybody else. The data doesn’t support that. What it does support is something I’m proud of. Cardaq has grown into a profitable, UK-headquartered regulated financial institution while maintaining a meaningful workforce, investing in technology and infrastructure, and generating a significant corporation-tax contribution in the UK. And this is happening while we continue to invest heavily in compliance, risk, technology, people and new infrastructure. Could we structure everything differently? - Probably. Could we optimise every number until the UK operating company showed very little profit?- There are many perfectly legitimate ways international groups organise themselves. I want Cardaq to build here.If we benefit from operating in Britain — its financial ecosystem, talent, legal system, infrastructure and access to global markets — then I believe creating employment, investing here and paying the taxes legitimately due here are part of the same relationship. I’m proud of that. And we’re only getting started. 🇬🇧Build here. Employ here. Invest here. Contribute here. #Cardaq #FinTech #UKBusiness #Payments #FinancialServices #Entrepreneurship #BuildingInBritain #remi #hugoremi #teido #ixxov #fca #hmrc #nca #london #unitedkingdom #finance #visa #mastercard #unionpay

One issuer. A card for every possibility. 💳 🇬🇧 A company rarely needs just one card. It needs a card for each thing it does: paying staff, fuelling a fleet, rewarding customers, handling travel and FX, and, more and more, spending digital assets. Cardaq offers 90+ card programmes across 13 categories: 🔹 Consumer, Business, Corporate and Government: debit, credit, charge and prepaid, physical and virtual 🔹 Fleet and EV charging, Transit and Travel: cards for mobility and cross-border spending 🔹 Payroll, Benefits, Healthcare, Gift and Loyalty: each built for a specific kind of spending 🔹 Crypto, Stablecoin and Web3: were also registered with FINTRAC in Canada for virtual currency 🔹 Digital first: virtual, single-use, tokenised and dynamic CVV cards Every tier runs from Standard to Ultra Premium, on both Visa and Mastercard, as a Principal Member of both schemes. You can choose any funding model: debit, prepaid, credit, charge or hybrid. You can also design your own card in a few clicks with the Cardaq Card Builder. Weve been issuing since 2011.
